What is Friendly Speed Dating?
It’s an event where you can meet many new people for friendship and relationships in a short amount of time. The event lasts about two hours and includes 6-8 rounds of 6–8 minutes each. In every round you’ll have a new conversation partner, and if you both enjoy the interaction, you’ll receive each other’s contact details after the event.
Who usually comes?
Typically, 25–30 people attend each event. Many work in tech or do arts. There will be two age groups:
There are no strict age limits, but if you’re much younger or older, there may be fewer people in your age range
Both sabras and olim take part. The main language of the event is English, since not all newcomers speak Hebrew fluently, but during the conversations you can use whichever language works best for you and your partner (for example Hebrew or Russian)
What makes us different?
- All applications are pre-moderated, and we keep the gender balance from leaning too heavily one way
- Matches are arranged through a Telegram bot, where you register before the event. It’s very simple and only takes a few minutes
- At the start of the event, you can choose who you’d like to talk to one-on-one and who you’d prefer not to
-You can meet people either for relationships or for friendship. If you’re not looking for romance, you can set in the bot that you’re only interested in friendship
- You can also connect with people of your own gender
We are not a therapy group or a classic safe space, but we do foster a friendly, open, and accepting environment. There are no taboo topics, but it’s important to respect others’ boundaries and stay mindful of feedback
