This month’s featured guest is General Manager David Muench of Periwinkle Park, a beloved family-owned and operated campground and trailer park that has been a part of the Sanibel community for more than 60 years. Known for its welcoming feel, island charm, and tight-knit resident and camper base, Periwinkle Park has long been a hub for connection and community.
Muench will lead a presentation on the park’s origins, its growth over the decades, and the incredible resilience shown in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. From storm cleanup to rebuilding a sense of place, Periwinkle Park’s story is one of resilience, community, and renewal.
“We’ve been incredibly lucky to call Sanibel home for so many years,” says Muench. “What makes Periwinkle Park special isn’t just the property—it’s the people. After Hurricane Ian, the community came together in ways I’ll never forget. I’m looking
forward to sharing a bit of that journey with our neighbors at the Friendly Faces lunch.”
FISH Senior Services Director Erika Arnowitz says this month’s luncheon is more than a social gathering—it’s a chance to celebrate Sanibel. “We’re excited to welcome David and spotlight a place that holds so many special memories for islanders,” she shares.
Lunch—now provided each month by The Great White Grill—will be served at no cost to guests. FISH extends a heartfelt thank you to Sanibel Deli for their meal partnership over the past year and helping make Friendly Faces such a welcoming and delicious
experience.
All are welcome—residents, visitors, workers, and longtime fans of the luncheon. RSVP by Thursday, August 8 by contacting Erika Arnowitz at FISH, erika@fishofsancap or 239-472-4775.
