Friday the 13th Book Club
This book club meets only on actual Friday the 13ths, on the 13th hour (1:00pm) making each gathering a rare and memorable event.
February: The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman**
Synopsis: A coming-of-age fantasy/horror about a boy raised by ghosts in a graveyard after his family is murdered. It blends whimsy, gothic atmosphere, and moral growth.
March: What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher**
Synopsis: A dark, fungal-infested, psychological horror novella loosely inspired by Poe’s “The Fall of the House of Usher.” It’s moody, intense, and more mature. Full of dread, decay, and creeping terror.
November: The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson**
Synopsis: A slow-burn haunted-house novel where the horror comes less from outright monsters and more from psychological unease, identity, and atmosphere.
