The Bunker Performance Lounge & Cafe kicks off its Summer Songwriter Series on Friday, June 26th at 8PM, with an evening of original music from three distinct voices in the Canadian singer-songwriter tradition.
Chase Stevens is a Toronto-based singer-songwriter who describes his style as "Troubadour Country," blending new country with the singer-songwriter tradition. He recently completed recording his upcoming album, Trespassing Castles, in Nashville, with singles that have reached #1 on the Canadian Indie Country Chart and been streamed in over 30 countries. Chase has earned accolades including "Video of the Year" and "Songwriter of the Year" in Holland, along with nominations at the MARTY Awards and the Mississauga Music Awards. After a long hiatus from live performance, he returns to the stage eager to share this new music with live audiences.
Willem James Cowan has been building a following across eastern Canada since 2018 with his sweeping folk anthems. Across three releases and various singles, he has worked sometimes alone with a guitar and sometimes backed by a collective of musicians known as The Friends of the Cove. His 2022 full-length album, Mourning in the Morningtime, is a showcase of the stark vulnerability that defines his work, where lush instrumentation is always in service of quiet truths and a forward-looking honesty.
Henry Taylor has been part of Canada's folk-rock landscape since the late 1990s. The Kitchener-Waterloo-based artist brings six studio albums and performances at some of Toronto's most iconic venues to his credit, including the Horseshoe Tavern and the Mod Club. His newest record, SWEET THUNDER! (2025), continues a string of well-received releases, and his co-written song "Decorating Your Heart" recently earned a songwriting award from the Tennessee Songwriters Association.
