Very Cool Classic Jazz in the style of Paul Desmond, Stan Getz and Ben Webster. Quiet and supremely subtle.Mark Buckingham is a London based saxophonist who has been a performing and recording artist for over 35 years. His latest album was a homage to the wonderful music of Dave Brubeck and Paul Desmond. He is currently recording a celebration of the exciting sounds of Eric Dolphy.
Mark has performed all over the UK in bands whose styles range from reggae, rock, post-punk, jazz/funk, soul and blues. He plays
regularly at the Bull’s Head, Barnes, as tenor sax player in The Groove Warriors with Japanese child prodigy guitarist Kenji Suzuki and keyboard maestro Dave Clayton, both from Simply Red.
Mark is also the leader of The MB Big Band which he created during lockdown when only professional musicians could gather and rehearse. Seventeen of London’s finest professional jazz musicians playing the music of Buddy Rich, Woody Herman, Benny Goodman and Count Basie. Highlights of their shows can be found on YouTube.
The other two members of the trio are some of London’s finest instrumentalists: Richard Sadler - Double Bass and Tom Gilchrist - Guitar.
