and nature connection to maximise health and happiness!
About this Event
Founded in 1899 as part of a movement for social reform, Birmingham Settlement provides a range of services in some of Birmingham's most marginalised communities.
Now in its second year, the Neighbourhood Futures Festival brings together people in the city to celebrate and enjoy our green spaces, and explore their future.
Join us at our Nature & Wellbeing Centre in Ladywood - right next to Edgbaston Reservoir - for 4 days of friendly activity, family fun, walks & talks, wellbeing sessions, arts & crafts, music & performance, conversations, educational workshops, and interactive learning - all in the beauitiful surrounds of nature.
There is lots to engage with during the festival so come down, soak in the summer at the Reservoir and get involved!
If you can afford to, please consider making a donation to Birmingham Settlement when booking your ticket to help support our work. Thank you.
FRIDAY PROGRAMME
It's day two of our Neighbourhood Futures Festival and the festival field will be buzzing with hands-on learning, experimentation, workshops and talks!
Join us for a day of creativity, collaboration, and sustainable innovation - all in the context of green social justice and voice for all.
From getting creative with community zine making, to arts based approaches to researching mental health, and making 'corncrete' with CIVIC SQUARE - there are opportunities to create, design, and explore our futures in ways that are both kind to our planet and its people.
Learn about society and rethinking approaches with 'Doughnut Economics', attend an introduction to 'Maker Monday' with STEAMhouse and find out about Free and Fair Food Sharing Schemes with Crops Not Shops Brum. Create a soundscape with local artists and explore environmental justice with MAIA. The Active Wellbeing Society will also be on-site with their Mobile Share Shack!
PLUS - co-design a future neighoburhood, take part in morning yoga and sessions for wellbeing, or just relax in the tranquility of nature!
WHO IS THE DAY FOR?
The festival is for everyone! You might particularly enjoy our Friday activities if you are:
