About this Event
Seattle’s Black community includes a variety of lived experiences and points of view. Although we share many cultural traditions and the political agenda of fighting anti-Black oppression, it can be challenging to unite across the lines of difference within the community.
One of the region’s most impactful tensions is between Black people who are born and raised here and those who have relocated here from other areas. Our perceptions of one another affect our decisions to either clash, avoid, or connect within the community. We believe it is is possible to bridge gaps of understanding that prevent us from building collective strength & wellbeing.
Some of us are deeply rooted here, with families going back generations. Some of us are freshly planted – new seeds that have traveled from all over the world. All of us are here together now.
Join us for an afternoon of conversation & healing as we tend our unique community garden.
What to expect:
- Bold, yet care-filled community discussion with featured storytellers & audience participation
- Arts & community organization showcases
- Opportunities to make new connections
Doors open at 12pm.
