The Setup!

8 Teams to compete for a CASH PRIZE

Teams of 2

Team Registration: $40 per team

Free Agent Registration: Purchase a $10 FREE AGENT ticket. On the day of the tournament, you will be matched with a partner. Once matched, you and your partner will pay the remaining TEAM fee ($10 each)

Tournament Style: 3 Rounds of Play

A fresh deck of cards supplied by venue

Doors open at 2:00 PM & Tournament starts PROMPTLY at 3:00PM

Too intense to play? Feel free to spectate and enjoy the shenanigans for $10! Your general admission ticket includes 1-beverage and 1 Raffle Ticket

We will be hosting the tournament in the 2nd Floor 🌳Treehouse for the ultimate at-home vibes! Family and kids' activities are in the 1st floor studio! Kids are FREE! - RSVP only. There will be 90s nostalgia, light snacks and beverages, and raffles throughout the event!!🌮Food: Black & Brown-Owned🥤Drinks: BYOB

♠️ATTENTION TEAMS - Gameplay Rules♠️

Spades can be played many ways! To have UNITY during the tournament, there are a set of gameplay rules for all teams to follow. Review all of the rules before registering for the tournament.

♠️Dealing

· Deal clockwise to the left

· Cut to the right of the dealer

· Deal cards FACE DOWN

· No Spades in hand? REDEAL!!!

🃏Bidding

· First hand bids itself

· Team opposite dealer bids first

· Blind 6 ONLY when down 100+ pts

· Sandbags counted as points

🚩Penalties

· Reneging will cost the team 3 books

· Talking over the board about strategy or to confirm who threw a card will cost the team 1 book

· If there is a penalty, GET THE REF to settle!

🏆Scoring & Winning

· Use the provided score sheet

· One person keeps the score

· Sandbags are counted if a team overbids

· REF checks scoring at the end of each round (First Round, Semifinals, Finals)

· The team who reaches 400 points first or has the highest score after 45 minutes will move on to the next round.

♠️Taking Breaks

· Unless there is an emergency, players take breaks between hands and rounds. This will maximize gameplay time and help players keep track of which cards are played by who.
