About this Event
French Chanson & Jazz
A concert by Mathilde Mauguière
Enjoy a two-hour performance blending French chanson and jazz, carried by the warm and expressive voice of Mathilde Mauguière.
Mathilde Mauguière, a native of the Department of the Haute-Marne, has been singing
since childhood. A former student of the Petit conservatoire de Mireille and the Studio
des Variétés, she devoted herself to jazz for many years, performing in a number of
formats in several Parisian venues.
Mathilde has delighted audiences in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and North America
with traditional French songs and jazz standards, as well as some of her original
repertoire, called Du roman au refrain (From Novel to Refrain). She asked French
writers to tell a story on a single sheet of paper, which in turn served as the lyrics for
many of her songs, resulting in three albums. She has appeared on French television
and radio and as a voice actor in animated films and commercials.
After many years in Paris, Mathilde Mauguière lived and worked in Lyon for over two
decades. She currently resides in Metz, where she recently moved with her husband.
Though she has sung many times for French cultural centers and the Alliance française,
this will mark her first appearance in California.
Don’t miss this moment of music, storytelling, and cultural exchange !
