About this Event
Freeport Folio, a new community poetry initiative, is proud to announce the return of its quarterly open mic poetry series this Autumn with a special evening featuring acclaimed poet Gary Lawless. Event is free and open to the public.
The event will take place Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 7:00-8:30 PM in the Bradley Room at Freeport Community Services, 53 Depot Street, Freeport. The event is free and open to the public with open mic sign-ups available at the door. We welcome students, seasoned poets, first-time readers and those who want to bask in the power of poetry and the spoken word.
About our Featured Reader: Gary Lawless (he/him)
Gary Lawless is co-owner of Gulf of Maine Books in Brunswick, Maine, and the editor/publisher of Blackberry Books.
Gary has published 19 collections of poetry in the U S, five collections in Italy, and one in France. In August he was the featured reader at a “Festival Poesie Sauvage” in Le Salvetat sur Agout, France.
His most recent collection is “How the Stones Came to Venice” from Littoral Books in Portland, Maine. Gary lives in Nobleboro with his wife Beth, their cat, and their two rescue donkeys.
