What does the workshop cover?
This workshop combines the two processes of applique and freemotion embroidery thread sketching
to create a beautiful animal picture of your choice. Come equipped with an A4 image of your choice or choose from one of the prepared animal images such as the kingfisher in the example.
You will be guided through the process of planning and converting your image into a simple plan so you can convert the image to fabric. Then carefully add stitch with a variety of coloured threads to bring texture and ‘life’ to your finished picture!
Throughout the workshop you will be guided through each individual step to build up your picture out of your chosen fabrics. You will be taught all the skills needed to make the most out of this fantastic technique and leave the workshop with the knowledge and ability to continue with your own designs in the future.

Ideally suited to those who have had a go at freemotion embroidery before or completed a beginners workshop.

What you need to bring with you
Some images are supplied as well as tracing paper and a variety of coloured threads, but you will
need to bring the following materials and equipment with you:
 Sewing Machine, please bring your extra wide table for your machine if you have one
(helpful but not essential), also don’t forget your foot pedal and cable.
 Freemotion embroidery foot
 Please bring at least two A4 animal images of your choice, however some images will be
supplied should you wish to use a prepared one.
 A variety of fabric scraps to produce the raw edge applique artwork, please bring a good
variety of colours particularly relevant to your subject matter.
 Backing fabric about 2” larger than your A4 image. A decent weight fabric like a thick calico
or canvas.
 Threads are supplied but you may wish to bring some of your own.
 Your usual sewing equipment, tweezers, scissors etc
 Pencil, an erasable pen is also helpful but not essential
 Bondaweb
Other information you need to know
All workshops are run at LilyBoo, Lostwithiel on the upstairs floor. There is a steep flight of stairs up to the workshop area but once there you will have everything you need, from a small kitchen for tea and coffee along with a bathroom. The workshops at LilyBoo have bought together people for a chat, to learn something new and there is always lots of laughter.
