In early Culver City history civic organizations helped to shape the city infrastructure and strengthen bonds between residents and also with other communities, The Freemasons Lodge known as Culver City-Foshay #467 was there from the beginning, and one of its earliest members was Harry Culver. With a strong tradition of charitable works, the lodge members continue to aid the community as they have for decades through health fairs, soup kitchens, weekly open-house brunches, and other events.
