About this Event
The Actor’s Voice, with Alyssa Ciccarello Awaken an imagistic and sensory relationship with your voice through exercises designed to connect body and voice freely.
Through poetry and play, we will explore how to liberate and activate the voice, paying particular attention to freeing the breath and connecting with impulse.
The ultimate aim of the work is to remove tensions and blocks which inhibit the speaking voice, so that it is in direct contact with emotional impulse, shaped by the intellect but not restricted by it.
A speaking voice ready to be clear and faithful to the choices you make as an actor. Feel free to bring text you know by heart to play with, and if nothing comes to mind, text will be provided. Comfortable clothes, barefoot or similar preferred.
Alyssa Ciccarello is a Designated Linklater Teacher who originally studied at the Experimental Theatre Wing of Tisch School of the Arts, New York University. She has been dedicated to freeing and opening the voice to express the vast and diverse range of human experiences since 2005.
Her background in physical theater has shaped her approach to voice and speech teaching, which she has offered at institutions like New York University, the Actor’s Studio MFA program, Fordham University, and Terry Knickerbocker’s Meisner studio in NYC. From 2010 to 2015, she served as the Head of Voice and Speech at Maggie Flanigan Studio in Chelsea before moving back to Barcelona to expand her teaching internationally. This move allowed her to venture beyond acting programs into diverse environments where she could work with a wide range of individuals.
