Free Yoga for Migrant Women with Children
About this Event
Join our free Yoga for Women with Children sessions, taking place every other Saturday and designed especially for migrant women who would like to exercise together with their children.
We warmly invite women from Afghan and Syrian communities, as well as women from other migrant communities, to come along with their children and enjoy a relaxed, welcoming session together.
Sessions are led by Ewa Weis, an experienced yoga instructor with over 20 years of yoga practice and training in India. Ewa will guide women and children through a range of gentle yoga exercises, stretching, movement, breathing and relaxation activities suitable for different ages and abilities.
These sessions are a great opportunity for women with childcare responsibilities to exercise without needing to arrange childcare, while also introducing children to yoga and helping them enjoy movement in a fun and positive way.
No previous yoga experience is needed. Everyone can take part at their own pace.
During the sessions, women and children will have the opportunity to:
- Improve flexibility, balance and strength
- Enjoy gentle physical activity together
- Learn simple yoga poses and stretches
- Practise breathing and relaxation techniques
- Support physical and emotional wellbeing
- Build confidence in movement and exercise
- Spend positive and active time together
- Meet other women and families from the community
Yoga mats are provided, so simply wear comfortable clothing and come along with your children.
After the session, you are welcome to stay for a free hot drink and biscuits and spend some time chatting and connecting with other families.
This project is funded by Birmingham City Council.
