Free Yoga and Meditation for Everyday People at Highland Park
About this Event
We will explore natural, intuitive movement at a pace that feels welcome to your body. After movement, we will practice silent meditation for about 15 minutes.
No special knowledge, skill, or experience needed. Just be your ordinary human self.
Led by: Laura Drascic (she/her)
Thank you to Indy Parks for sponsoring this practice.
Things to Bring: Please bring a mat or a beach towel if you have one. We have only a few mats and yoga blocks for people to borrow. Water and bug spray will be provided.
Parking: There is free street parking on Marlow Ave. and Highland Ave. all around the edges of the park.
Meeting Spot: We will meet just past the blue shelter at the center of the park, near the top of the grassy hill. Depending on weather, we may move to a more shaded area. Accessible, paved walking paths are available throughout the park.
Schedule:
*There is no such thing as being late*
Yoga 7:00-7:40pm - Slow, gentle movement at a pace that feels welcome to you.
Meditation 7:40-7:55pm. We sit quietly, with nothing to achieve or attain. Practicing this way is an opportunity to be natural, let go of pretending, and be in the supportive presence of others practicing the same. We refrain from using language (talking, reading, writing, and phone use). By doing this for each other, we make it easier to turn towards the sounds of the world, both inside us and all around, and really, really hear. We also refrain from making eye contact, which is a way we relieve each other from being viewed.
Sharing and Discussion until 8:00pm: Share any questions and reflections and hear what others have to share. It's ok to just listen, too.
Safety
If you have any symptoms of contagious illness (e.g. coughing, fever, runny nose, body aches, malaise, etc.), please stay home and recover. Thank you for caring for your health and the well-being of people attending practice.
