At this workshop you will learn about Lyme and other tick-borne diseases and the increasing scope of the problem in Southern Ontario. Sarah will define Lyme, talk about the black-legged tick which carries it and provide a primer on other diseases that are carried by ticks in Southern Ontario. She will also talk about how to prevent tick bites and what to do if you discover an embedded tick. Finally, she will talk about the sometimes contentious diagnosis of chronic Lyme which bears many resemblances to long COVID. Resources will be recommended that can be accessed if you have a tick bite, suspect you have long-standing Lyme or other tick-borne illnesses or just want to educate yourself further about these diseases.
