Intro to Homesteading with Aur Beck and Crystal Stevens
Aur “Da Energy Mon” Beck has lived completely off-grid for over 35 years, first low-tech and then 18 years using off-grid solar. Over the course of 20 years, he has traveled with his family through 24 states and 14,000 recorded miles by horse-drawn wagon. Aur is a solar installer/trainer with AES Solar. He is also a presenter at The Climate Reality Project, a fellow addict at Oil Addicts Anonymous International and a talk show co-host at WDBX Community Radio for Southern Illinois 91.1 FM. He loves cooking, food preservation, and salsa dancing.

Crystal Stevens co-owns Flourish Farmstead & Folk School, a Botanical Sanctuary and regenerative farm, with her husband and two children. Crystal is a folk herbalist, author, multidisciplinary artist, and organic herb farmer. Crystal runs Herbalism Programs and Workshops through the Flourish Folk School/School of Botanicals. She teaches classes in herbalism, gardening, ethical wild foraging, wildcrafting, botanical dyeing, and earth skills at their farm in Godfrey, IL. Their family is passionate about earth stewardship and increasing biodiversity on their 10-acre farm in Godfrey. She is currently enrolled in Project Dragonfly, a master of Arts in Biology program through Miami University.
