Free Weekly Salsa & Bachata Class at Algo Nuevo
About this Event
Every Wednesday, RISE, the Ritmo Institute for Salsa Education, and Semeneya Dance Studio offer a free one hour dance class. The class runs 8:00 to 9:00 PM and alternates between salsa and bachata week to week.
No experience necessary. No partner needed. Come in shoes you can move in.
Where this fits in the night: the class takes place inside Algo Nuevo, the weekly Latin night hosted by DJ Plaziuz and Semeneya Dance Studio at Stable Hall, running 7:00 PM to 12:00 AM with salsa, bachata, merengue, cumbia, and a splash of reggaetón, bar specials all night, and no cover. The 8:00 to 9:00 PM class is the RISE and Semeneya portion of the evening. Everything before and after belongs to Algo Nuevo.
Registering here is free and simply helps RISE track participation in its community education programming. It is not required for entry to Stable Hall, and it does not cover any other part of the evening.
To find out whether a given week is salsa or bachata, check the Algo Nuevo page. Either way, the class is built for beginners.
About RISE: RISE is a 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to preserving and advancing salsa and Afro-Caribbean cultural arts through education, events, and community programs. Free weekly instruction is part of RISE's year-round work, built on more than twelve years of salsa programming in San Antonio.
