Earth Day in Bellevue is offering a session by Tom Neal, Executive Director of The Big Garden, a non-profit in Omaha. Tom will conduct a free educational class on small space gardening, just in time to plan out your garden for this growing season. Plus, Veggie gardens will be given to the first 25 attendees!Whether you have a huge backyard, or live in an apartment, this class will help you plan out your 2025 garden and maximize the space you do have for growing fresh produce all summer long! Topics include container gardening, square foot gardening, vertical gardening and succession planting!
For a bonus, Green Bellevue is giving away 25 vegetable garden packages on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each garden will consist of the following vegetables either live plants or seed:
Basil
Bush beans
Carrots
Cucumbers
Culinary sage
Onions
Lettuce
Tomatoes
Radishes
Wildflowers (to increase crop pollination)
You will be given a sample garden layout to use, a list of the plant varieties included, along with instructions on how to grow and maintain your garden.
Home-grown gardens help reduce carbon emissions, ensure fresher and more affordable food for families, give health benefits in the form of sunlight exposure, exercise, and interactions with beneficial microbes in the soil. Gardens encourage appreciation for whole foods, green spaces, and sustainable living.
Help yourself lower food costs over the spring, summer, and fall and make sure to get one of our vegetable garden packages!
