About this Event
Do you want to boost your autumnal tree ID skills? Interested in finding edible trees? This free guided walk for National Tree Week will take in the highlights of Parkwood Springs, a huge natural space in the heart of industrial Sheffield.
Parkwood Springs is the ideal place to get to know common British trees as well as meeting some of the more unusual species that have been planted here over the years. There is so much more variety here than in your typical wooded landscape.
The walk will follow main footpaths but sturdy footwear is advised. The walk is circular, includes two moderate slopes and covers a distance of 1.2km. Kids should be accompanied by an adult and they do not need a separate ticket.
Meet at the start of the gated trackway near Little Pear Tree Field, 136 Shirecliffe Rd, S5 8XB. Parking is available in the main car park, which is a short distance downhill. Please leave arrive no later than five minutes before the stated walk start time. The walk will begin promptly.
.....
All walk attendees will be provided with a link to a downloadable tree ID sheet prepared to accompany the walk. This lists the key tree species that are found in this location and the characteristics by which they can be identified.
This walk is part of a series hosted by Sheffield Woodland Connections throughout the city.
