FREE Thomas Hardy Walk - Hardy's Cottage to Max Gate

Join us on a free guided walk from Thomas Hardy's birthplace to Max Gate, the house Hardy designed, built and lived in until he died.
It is 5km from Hardy's Cottage to Max Gate, which means it is 10km in total. We will walk back the same way we came making this is a linear route. You have the option of ending the walk at Max Gate, please inform our guide of this when you arrive and ensure you can manage onward travel.
We expect the itinerary for the walk to look like this: 10.15 - Meet at Hardy’s Cottage, 12.15 – Reach Max Gate, 13.15 - Depart Max Gate for Hardy’s Cottage, 14.45 – Arrive back at Hardy’s Cottage. There is the option for walkers to join a tour of Hardy's Cottage, which must be booked and paid for independently and in advance.
The walk is free but parking is at Thorncombe Woods Carpark which is council owned and so parking fees for the duration of the walk need to be considered.
