This is a free event, but please make sure you register to attend through the Ticket Tailor link. For our September Wildlife Exchange Session we're excited to be joined by RECORD's very own Gavin Kellerman. As well as working part-time at RECORD, Gavin is also a PhD student at the University of Exeter.
Gavin will be joining us to fill us in on his exciting PhD project. Jointly funded by the University of Exeter and Songbird Survival; the project investigates outdoor recreation and its impacts on birds.
Gavin will be talking about the gaps in our knowledge on how recreation can affect our native UK songbirds and how he is exploring the human dimension of this recreational behaviour. We'll also be learning about the steps that can be taken to mitigate the impacts of this behaviour whilst striking a careful balance between the needs of both people and birds.
Although Gavin is working across the whole of the UK, he'll be discussing how his research can be applied to areas within Cheshire and how we can all take steps to be more responsible recreationists.
There will be plenty of time to ask questions after the talk. What's more, free hot drinks and biscuits will be provided!
This event is aimed at adults, however sensible older children are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
Accessibility: The Community Hall is on the first floor of the building and can be accessed via stairs or a lift. Please let us know prior to the session if you have any access needs or other relevant additional needs.
