FREE Tai Chi Flow
Move · Breathe · Balance · Relax
Discover the gentle flow of Tai Chi at the Canberra Moon Festival 2026.
Presented by the Healthway Association Tai Chi Team, this free community activity combines Tai Chi demonstration, simple instruction and guided participation in a relaxed and welcoming festival setting.
Whether you are completely new to Tai Chi or already have some experience, everyone is welcome to watch, learn and join in.
Agenda
Each 60-minute session includes:
Check-In & Traditional Styling – 15 mins
Sign in and experience traditional Chinese attire, with Song and Ming Dynasty-style tops available for registered participants. Optional traditional hair styling with Chinese hair sticks will also be available.
Tai Chi Flow Practice – 30 mins
Learn basic Tai Chi stances, body alignment and breathing while experiencing gentle, fluid movement.
Wrap-Up & Reflection – 15 mins
Return garments and take part in a brief group reflection to share how you felt during the practice.

What you can experience
Throughout the session, participants will have opportunities to:
- watch Tai Chi demonstrations
- learn basic principles of posture, breathing and relaxed movement
- practise simple beginner-friendly Tai Chi movements
- explore balance, coordination and flexibility
- experience calm breathing and body awareness
- ask questions and learn more about Tai Chi
Who can join?
This activity is suitable for beginners and people of different ages and abilities.
No previous Tai Chi experience or special equipment is required.
What to Wear: Loose, comfortable bottoms such as sweatpants or wide-leg pants, a lightweight base top suitable for wearing underneath the provided traditional top, and flat-soled shoes.
All movements are gentle, and participants are encouraged to take part according to their own comfort and ability.
Traditional Attire Experience
Traditional Chinese tops in Song and Ming Dynasty styles are available for registered participants, with only 6 available per session.
Garments are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and specific sizing cannot be guaranteed. Please arrive promptly at the beginning of your session for the best opportunity to access the traditional attire and styling experience.
Registration & Participation
This is a FREE community event.
Registration is encouraged to help us plan for the session, but walk-ins are very welcome.
Participation space and seating may be limited during busy periods and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
If the main activity area is full, visitors are welcome to stand nearby, watch and join where appropriate, subject to available space and venue safety requirements.
