Location: Valour Community Centre - Orioles Site 448 Burnell St, Winnipeg.
Come join us for an evening of learning about Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) as taught by Instructor Provosts Chad McFarland (27 years experience) and Doug Crighton (28 years experience). You'll have a chance to hold steel sword trainers and learn about the equipment used for modern day western martial arts sword fighting using historical techniques from the 1500's and 1600's Europe.
We are limiting space to a maximum 40 participants (20 for 7:30pm and 20 for 8:30pm) for our class on Italian rapier where students will get a chance to see what a beginner sword fighting class is like in a fun and friendly environment!
We are also offering 20 spots to try out our Italian longsword intro class. (10 spots open for 7:30pm and 10 spots open for 8:30pm.

Afterwards sign up for our regular spring semester which is one of the best valued programs in the city. 10 weeks of class in either rapier or longsword for $150! That's only $15.00/hour for professional martial arts instruction! Not only will you gain the benefits of physical activity, you'll make new friends and get away from the computer/phone/tablet for a few hours. You'll also open up opportunities to participate in activities that Valour HEMA Academy is involved in such as the Cook's Creek Medieval Festival and tournaments where you can win prizes such as swords, armour, medals and more!

(Not so fine fine print: $150/10 week class semester {rapier or longsword}, $25 equipment rental fee {once per semester if renting any equipment from VHEMAA}, $50 once/year membership insurance fee. Max cost if you want to take rapier and longsword and renting is $375) Standard liability waiver will be signed by all participants prior to taking any class with Valour HEMA Academy.
If you have previously participated in a free class you will only be eligible to participate if there are open spots after new participants have registered as we often fully fill up these free class nights.
