About this Event

📅 Saturdays: July 18, 25 & August 1, 8 | 10:15–11:45am

🔗 REGISTER:
Come to all four, just one, or as many as you can make — we'll learn a brand new tune each week! Students get the song a week ahead (via email/socials) as a link or mp3 to start listening and learning by ear.
🎻 What we're working on:
- Learning to play tunes by ear — and think on your feet
- Building confidence with Bluegrass & Old-Time tunes
- Playing together — cooperation, not competition
- Making friends and having fun (the whole point of music!)
🎻 Plus:
- Chord patterns, song structure & jam etiquette
- A list of top 20 popular fiddle tunes to explore
- A taste of improvisation & soloing in Bluegrass jams
- Tips on where to catch (and join!) more local Bluegrass & Old-Time music
Our instructor will teach melodies and demonstrate on violin/fiddle. Cellists and violists are welcome to play chords/bass or pick up the melody by ear.
🚨 No fiddle experience required, but students should be able to play these scales in tune, by ear, without sheet music: G & A (two octaves), and C, D, E, F (one octave). Beginners are welcome to come observe and listen quietly!
Bring your instrument and come jam with us!
