About this Event

Join us:

To celebrate our local streams and rivers, we are running summer holiday sessions focusing on the river and what lives around it.

On Friday 21st August, there are two sessions available:

  • 10:30am - 12pm - Water Detectives (this event)
  • 1pm - 2:30pm - Flow & Create (See separate listing)

These are family friendly, for young people aged 6 - 11 years old. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Younger children can attend, however all activities may not be age appropriate.

What you'll do:

In this session, children will become Water Detectives, investigating the health of a river by measuring its flow, testing water quality, and searching for the tiny creatures that live beneath the surface. By gathering evidence and comparing their results, they will discover how clean water, enough water, and healthy habitats help rivers support wildlife.

  • River flow measuring
  • Habitat & Wildlife spotting
  • Water quality testing
  • River dipping
