A comprehensive one-day conference is designed to empower older adults to enjoy healthier, safer and more independent lives.Lunch will be served. Registration is required by Aug 5.https://extension.missouri.edu/events/the-gift-of-aging
This is the second year for the event, sponsored by University of Missouri Extension and local partners such as Hannibal Regional Hospital, Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Marion County Health Department, the Hannibal YMCA, Hannibal Department of Parks & Recreation and Northeast Missouri Area Agency on Aging.
The following presentations are planned:
• Foot Health in the Aging Population by Dr. Edward Cline
• Cooking for One by Registered Dietitian Kristy Taylor
• Safeguarding Your Finances: A Guide to Avoiding Bank Fraud by Bank Vice President Bank Bailey Remmels
Besides the presentations, the participants will have the opportunity to get their cholesterol and blood pressure checked for free. There will be a shredding station for seniors to get rid of old documents and the Hannibal Police Department will offer a Drug Take-Back service. There will also be booths focusing on different community groups with serve seniors, helping to improve their health, volunteer and learn life skills as they age.
The conference is part of the University of Missouri Extension’s commitment to improve the health and well-being of all Missourians at all stages of life.
