About the film: FLOW (U)
Gints Zilbalodis, Latvia, 2024, 84 mins, no dialogue
From the acclaimed director of Away, FLOW is a beautifully crafted, wordless animated adventure that tells a powerful story through stunning visuals, expressive movement and evocative music.
The film follows a curious and independent cat whose world is suddenly transformed when a great flood submerges the familiar landscape. Forced to leave its home behind, the cat embarks on a journey across water and ruins, encountering a small group of very different animals along the way — each with their own instincts, fears and ways of surviving.
As they travel together, these unlikely companions must learn how to coexist, communicate without words, and support one another in an unpredictable environment. What begins as a solitary quest gradually becomes a moving exploration of friendship, trust and collective survival.
With no spoken dialogue, FLOW is universally accessible and emotionally resonant, making it ideal for audiences of all ages. Its gentle storytelling and breathtaking animation create a meditative, immersive experience that invites viewers to reflect on themes of cooperation, resilience, environmental change and what it truly means to live together in a shared world.
