We're looking forward to delivering two environmental law workshops this September in Newfoundland and Labrador!
Generously supported by a grant from the Law Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador, our upcoming workshops will be free and open to the public.
Led by East Coast Environmental Law staff lawyer Tina Northrup, each workshop will offer foundational learning on how environmental laws are made and changed and how members of the public can contribute to the enforcement of environmental laws. We'll then explore one or two case studies that dig deeper into how the environmental law landscape is changing in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Agenda:
6:00 - 6:15: Welcome and Introductions
6:15 - 6:45: How Environmental Laws Are Made and Changed
6:45 - 7:00: Health Break
7:00 - 7:30: How Members of the Public Can Contribute to the Enforcement of Environmental Laws
7:30 - 7:50: Case Study: Environmental Impact Assessments and the Building Canada Act
7:50 - 8:10: Guest Presentation by Helen Forsey of the Avalon Chapter of the Council of Canadians
