Free Pattern Making Basic Course – for SMEs

Course Overview:
This 12-hour in-person course offers participants the opportunity to gain a fundamental understanding of patternmaking and practical methods for creating patterns from drawings. Delivered at the Elite Centre for Manufacturing Skills Hub at the University of Wolverhampton, the course provides hands-on experience and focuses on the health and safety requirements of patternmaking, the use of machinery, and the practical construction of patterns.

What You’ll Learn:

• Health and safety practices for all tools and machinery used during the course.
• A breakdown of drawings, including draft taper, datums, contraction, centre lines, and machining.
• Pattern setup and dimensional checks.
• Construction of a pattern using bandsaws, sanding discs, bobbin sanders, and pedestal drills.
• Finishing techniques using fillets and pattern coat red varnish.
• Final dimensional checks to ensure accuracy.
