Friday, December 12th from 9:30-11:30Saturday, December 13th from 9-12.
This is a self-guided workshop. All materials and resources are provided by Leaf & Limb and Handsome Trig's Prairie Patch.
1. This is a gallery-style workshop. Both days/times are exactly the same. Come anytime, stay as long as you want.
2. In addition to the spreadsheets below each seed will have an 8 1/2 x 11 color slide alongside it at the workshop. I hope that this information helps you find some plants that interest you and match your planting needs.
3. Pots, soil, garden markers, and seed baggies will all be available to you. In the past participants have brought their own pots and labels; you're welcome to bring anything that will help you meet your needs.
4. The simple, foundational kernel of truth at the heart of this workshop is that nearly all of these seeds need (or germinate best after) a period of cold, wet weather. You're planting these seeds in a sterile soil mix, finding a shady spot open to the elements, protecting them from curious critters, and then letting nature do it's thing. Seeds will come up when they're ready - hopefully in the Spring, but sometimes not until the year after.

You'll learn a little about its inception, but mostly what you can expect including step by step instructions. As I share in the video, I hope that you'll come as you, take what you need, and stay as long as you want.

You will learn:
---> the benefits (and ease) of growing natives in your yard and shared landscapes
---> a method to germinate native seeds outside over the winter
---> resources on how to germinate native seeds in your refrigerator
---> how (and when) to transplant and care for your native plants
Everyone in attendance will leave with:
---> a selection of planted native seeds to overwinter in their backyard
---> resources to care for their native seeds
What you can bring:
You don't need to bring anything - all will be provided. However, if you have your own growing containers/flats, you may bring those with you!
Kids are welcome. There is plenty of potting and seeding that they can help with, and there is a community garden for them to explore.
