Acclaimed Christopher Burnett Quartet to Perform Free Midday Jazz Concert in Leavenworth
LEAVENWORTH, KS – In honor of Women's History Month, the Christopher Burnett Quartet will perform a special midday concert of instrumental jazz ballads on March 25, 2026, at JW Crancers Event Space. The performance will run from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm and is free and open to the public.
The program, titled "Ballads for Women's History Month," features a curated selection of lyrical compositions by alto saxophonist Christopher Burnett alongside jazz standards by legends such as Billie Holiday, Herbie Hancock, and Miles Davis. Highlights include Burnett’s originals, along with "Aja’s Theme" and the timeless "God Bless The Child."
"We believe a Leavenworth audience will truly enjoy this performance of ‘American Jazz chamber music' in the beautiful setting of JW Crancers," said Burnett, a 22-year veteran of the U.S. Army Bands and co-founder of the Artists Recording Collective’s ARC label.

This performance is made possible by a co-sponsorship between JW Crancers and the American Federation of Musicians (Kansas City Local 34-627), with funding provided by the Musicians Performance Trust Fund (MPTF). Local 34-627 holds a storied legacy in the region, representing the historic merger of the "Colored Musicians Union" (Local 627)—once home to Charlie Parker—with Local 34.
