🐶 Why Microchipping Matters
Each year, millions of pets go missing, and many are never reunited with their families. Microchipping is a simple, safe, and permanent form of identification that significantly increases the chances of a lost pet returning home. Unlike collars and tags, which can fall off or be removed, a microchip stays with your pet for life. Studies have shown that microchipped dogs are over twice as likely to be returned to their owners, and microchipped cats are over 20 times more likely to be reunited.

Founded in 2019 by Kelly Carey, Silverstray Social is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting pet families in Gary, Indiana. Through its "Silver Lining Gary" initiative, the organization provides essential services such as free spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, and trap-neuter-return (TNR) programs. Silverstray aims to create a compassionate community by addressing the needs of underserved pet families and promoting the human-animal bond.
