FREE Memory Loss and Normal Aging Gatekeeper Community Training

This FREE Community Gatekeeper Training helps community members learn more about normal aging vs. memory loss and how to support friends/family who might be affected by memory loss that is more than normal aging. Below are some bullet points on what we teach in this training:

Content:

1. What dementia is and is not;
2. Visual and spoken information regarding changes in the brain occurring from memory loss/dementia;
3. Age related memory loss vs. possible dementia related memory loss;
4. Memory, thinking, physical and behavioral changes that occur in normal aging vs. dementia related memory loss;
5. Communication with people who have memory loss;
6. Safety in the home and community;
7. Supporting those with memory loss/dementia who live alone;
8. How to refer to the Dementia Connection Program; and
9. Follow-up and resources offer by the Dementia Connection Program.
