Carle Health is celebrating National Mammography Day, the third Friday in October, by offering free mammograms! This screening is provided by the Tazewell County Health Department and Carle Health. This project is made possible, in part, by a grant from the IDPH Illinois Breast & Cervical Cancer Program.
Women sometimes put off getting a mammogram because they’re afraid the doctor will find something. Most mammogram reports bring good news. Even if a lump is detected, eight out of 10 are NOT cancer. In the event of cancer, the survival rate approaches 100% for women whose tumors are detected and treated.
