Join former park employee James Hayward for a presentation that explores the overall history of the property now known as Heritage Hill State Historical Park. Learn a brief history of the site, from its geological formation to modern settlement, and its transition from the Kellogg farm to its use as the Green Bay State Reformatory’s orchards. Discover why this location was chosen to house a variety of historic Green Bay buildings in the 1960s and how its first 11 buildings were moved here for the park’s opening in 1977 through historic maps and photos. Finally, learn about the subsequent development of Heritage Hill over the following 47 years.
After the presentation, join James for a brief walk (optional) into the park to compare the original park plans with the park you and thousands of other visitors enjoy each season!
