The Performers

· Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) – regularly ranked among the top 5 orchestras globally.

· Marin Alsop, conductor – a MacArthur “Genius” Fellow and the first woman to lead major orchestras in the US, South America, Austria, and Britain.

The Program

· Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World” – a landmark American masterpiece that drew on Indigenous and Black musical traditions, asking what a truly “American” sound could be.

· Carlos Simon’s Good News Mass (Midwest premiere, Ravinia co‑commission) – a vibrant fusion of classical music, gospel spirituality, Black Catholic tradition, and spoken word. Simon says: “If this music is done in the right way… it goes straight to you.”

This pairing – a 19th‑century search for an American voice alongside a 21st‑century answer – makes for an unforgettable, deeply human evening.

Ticket & Transportation Options

Please select the option that works for you. Priority for free lawn tickets will be given to those who can drive (due to very limited Ravinia parking passes).

Option Price Details

Free Lawn Ticket (Drive yourself) $0 You arrange your own transportation. Ravinia charges $45per car for parking – we recommend carpooling.

Free Lawn Ticket + School Bus $15/person Round‑trip bus transportation (ages 5+ only). Bus leaves at 4:00 PM; pickup stops will be determined based on signups and will be designed to be reachable for everyone.

⚠️ Very limited availability – first come, first served. If you select the bus option, payment of $15 per person will be collected separately (details emailed after registration).

Important Notes

· Lawn tickets are general admission – bring a blanket or low lawn chair.

· If you no longer need your tickets, please cancel so others can attend.

· You will receive your digital lawn tickets via your Ravinia account no more than 10 days before the concert. We’ll send instructions.

· Drivers: your $45 parking fee is paid directly to Ravinia (not to us). May change on the event day

Bus Departure & Stops

· Departure time: 4:00 PM sharp.

· Return: approximately 30 minutes after the concert ends.

· Pickup stops: we will survey registrants and choose accessible, reachable stops based on where the group is coming from. Final stop details will be emailed 1 week before the event.
