GRAMMY long-listed, 10-time Global Music Award winner and 2-time National Jazz Award-winning trumpet iconoclast BROWNMAN ALI leads a stripped-down edition of his internationally acclaimed Latin-jazz ensemble CRUZAO (normally a quintet). Renowned for its explosive stage energy and fearless dismantling of musical borders, the trio launches modern jazz headfirst into the rhythmic worlds of Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Brazil -- where angular bebop lines collide with Afro-Cuban fire, Brazilian propulsion, deep Caribbean grooves, and Brownman’s volcanic trumpet improvisations. Sophisticated enough for the jazz purists, combustible enough for everyone else: this is Latin-jazz with the safety mechanisms removed.
