Rhode Island Energy’s Energy Code Technical Support initiative provides Rhode Island building code officials and inspectors with free residential and commercial energy code training and continuing education credits.

Please join us for a presentation offered FREE of charge by Rhode Island Energy on techniques to help meet the current commercial energy code.

The current Rhode Island energy code is based upon the 2024 IECC, which was adopted in 2024. An updated version of the Rhode Island energy code was released in 2025, which includes Appendices RK and CH, establishing electric-ready provisions for residential and commercial buildings.

This presentation includes an overview of the new IECC 2024 now in effect in RI, and the substantial revisions made since the last version of the RI Energy Code. These revisions include detailed requirements for additional energy efficiency and renewables/load management provisions, based on complex calculations in the code. This presentation presents an example project and several different sample calculations.
