About this Event

Join COAST Sunderland and botanist Richard Hockin from Durham Wildlife Trust as we explore the fascinating plant diversity in Fulwell Quarry and improve our ID skills. This area is designated as a Special Site of Scientific Interest because of it’s geological and biological importance. We can expect to see a range of plant species associated with magnesium limestone grasslands such as red fescue and blue moor grass.

No experience or knowledge is needed- just come along for a lovely walk, meet new people and improve your plant knowledge!

We will meet at the entrance to Fulwell Quarry and return to our starting point at the end of the session.

This event is open to all ages but please note that under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. Please note that sections of this walk will require walking uphill and on uneven ground. Please wear appropriate clothing and suitable, sturdy footwear.
