Lab Session: How to identify a meteorite. Meteorite types and what they tell us about our solar system. How to find and identify a meteorite.
We will discuss the various types of meteors in our solar system, where they originate from, and how they get to Earth. What happens when they enter the atmosphere? What do the impact sites on Earth tell us about the frequency of impacts to Earth?

Plate Tectonics of the Earth’s Ocean Floor
Study the dynamics of Earth’s hidden ocean floor and how it drives immense plate motion.
Submarine volcanism and black smokers that erupt with deep subduction zones to
generate massive earthquakes that uncover the driving forces for all plate motion.
What important rocks and minerals do we find forming on the ocean floor?

Rare Earth and How the Earth has Formed
Early History and Evolution of Planet Earth from the Hadean Era to Cambrian Explosion. Formation of the planet, emergence of the oceans, appearance of early life.
Fossil Studies of the Crater Rock Museum.
We will concentrate on the latest fossil finds at the Museum. Fossil birds in cases unveiled. We have bones and teeth of possibly dire wolf, saber tooth cat, or mammoth.

Study the geologic formation of rocks and mountains in the Pacific Northwest.
