First Fridays Art Adventures: TAF Visual Arts is offering Free events once a month for artists, aspiring artists, and all interested. First Friday of the month, 6:30pm at the Creative Arts Center, 53 W Main in American Fork.

About the upcoming September workshop, Art Digitization / Scanning:
In this workshop, artists will learn the essential techniques for photographing and scanning their artwork to create accurate digital copies, ensuring precise representation of color, texture and form. Through step-by-step instruction on lighting setups to minimize glare and shadows, proper camera capture methods, color management for accurate colors and post-processing tools for final adjustments, participants will gain the skills needed to produce high-quality images suitable for websites, portfolios and reproductions. This hands-on approach will equip attendees with practical knowledge to avoid common pitfalls, such as distortion or color shifts, while effectively bridging traditional art methods with modern digital tools.
Bio: Trent Bates is a visual artist based in Utah County, with an interdisciplinary practice spanning photography, 3D animation, installation, and performance art. Holding a BFA in Photography from Utah Valley University and an MFA in Fine Art Media from the Slade School of Fine Art, London, he explores the structures and functionalities of objects and methods, seamlessly integrating traditional and digital mediums. With over two decades as an exhibiting artist and lecturer, Trent has presented work in multiple international shows. His teaching career includes lectures at the Tate Modern in London on modernism and photography, adjunct roles at Utah Valley University and Brigham Young University in digital imaging and photography, and current instruction at Snow College. Additionally, Trent owns and operates The Visual Center, providing museum-grade artwork digitization and printing, as well as exhibition and commercial guidance to empower artists at any stage of their practice.
