"Portrait" - Free Festival Workshop feat. 48 Hour Film ChallengeThe workshop will be led by British film lecturer John Digance, who have already run film courses at universities and other institutions in the UK, Sweden, Spain, Russia, Pakistan and China.
In his own words: "This year’s workshop theme is Portrait. It might be of a person, a place an idea or an emotion; a physical, mental, realist or fantasy portrait. Your film may be documentary or fiction, experimental or continuity narrative. The choice is yours. We will watch and discuss short films and extracts that are related to the workshop topic – and then, two days later, your short films.”
Please send us an image which could fall into this wide interpretation of ‘Portrait’ when you apply for the Workshop.
All workshop events will be held in English. Participants must have their own film and editing equipment.
Workshop dates 2026
Sat 24 Jan, 12–5 pm: Introduction, film screenings, talking about film ideas
Sat 24 Jan to Mon 26 Jan: Work on the 48-hour films
Mon 26 Jan, 7 pm: Public screening of the films at Sputnik Kino
