FREE FILM SCREENING: THE ARCTIC: OUR LAST GREAT WILDERNESS
On Thursday, June 25th, 2026, the USC Bovard Theatre is holding a free screening of the award-winning documentary THE ARCTIC: Our Last Great Wilderness. As a feature location on a special four-city California roadshow, the Gwich’in Steering Committee is bringing the film to Los Angeles.
The documentary showcases the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, one of the planet’s last intact ecosystems and the calving grounds of the Porcupine Caribou Herd. It traces the threat that oil and gas extraction poses to the wildlife who depend on it and the Gwich’in who have fought to protect it. National Geographic photographer Florian Schulz spent five years capturing this spectacular landscape and some of the world’s greatest wildlife spectacles.
This event will feature an exclusive post-screening conversation with Gwich’in Chiefs and land protectors from America’s Arctic, offering audiences a rare opportunity to hear firsthand perspectives on stewardship, culture, and the ongoing effort to safeguard this special place.
If you are interested, we are able to offer speakers for a zoom or phone conversation in the days leading up to the event. Please reach out to [email protected] to schedule an interview.
