On November 1st, 2026, the Havilah Beardsley House will be open to the public for no admission from 1-4 pm! Now's the time to come check out one of our iconic, historic Elkhart homes for absolutely free. The Havilah Beardsley House is the oldest brick home in Elkhart, built by Elkhart's founder in 1848, and has been restored to the style of the 1870s, when his son James Rufus Beardsley renovated it into a grandiose Italian style.

When one site is open for Free Family Sunday, the other is closed. The Ruthmere Mansion will be closed on 11/1/26.
Free Family Sundays are made possible through a generous grant from the Community Foundation of Elkhart County.
