High Plains Shooting School is inviting all Black Hills and Rapid City, SD area gun owners, or those thinking of becoming one, to a FREE presentation entitled CIVILIAN FIREARM SELF-DEFENSE CONSIDERATIONS.
High Plains Shooting School is owned and operated by Bob Bennett, who spent a total of 24 years in law enforcement including time as a Pennington County Deputy Sheriff, Rapid City Police Officer, BIA special agent, and FBI special agent. Bob has spent countless hours on the shooting range, investigated many firearm related crimes, consulted with prosecutors, and testified in court. High Plains Shooting School has been in operation since 2023 teaching Black Hills area gun owners safe and lawful gun ownership and use based upon over two decades of real world experience.
The free presentation will cover:
1. Firearm safety
2. South Dakota State Law and deadly force (Stand Your Ground/Castle Doctrine/Imminent Threat)
3. Likely civilian self-defense scenarios in public, business, personal vehicles, and residential settings.
4. What is a good self-defense firearm and ammo?
5. Concealed carry vs. open carry
6. What to do if you are in a self-defense situation.
7. What NOT to do if you are a lawful gun owner.
8. How to interact with police if you are armed
Upon completion of the 45 - 60 minute presentation, there will be plenty of time for a great Q&A session with all of your questions answered from a person with extensive experience investigating firearm crimes and firearms training.
The presentation will be held JULY 22, 2026 beginning at 6:00 pm at The Hive, 512 Main Street, Suite 160, Rapid City, SD 57701.
