About this Event
Stop by a vendor stall at Boston Public Market FiberFest 2025 to learn a new skill or educate yourself on local fiber arts through an educational demonstration led by one of our pop-up fiber arts vendors! See below for a schedule of demonstrations:
11-11:30 AM: Breed Study Demo with Juliette Pécaut Designs
We all know wool comes from sheep — but did you know that the breed of sheep our wool comes from can play a huge role in determining the properties of the fiber? In this breed study demo, we’ll explore 12 different sheep breeds found in North America and see how the fleeces of each breed create a diverse range of yarn. From the softness of native Targhee to the durability of imported Shetland, we’ll see how things like crimp, staple length, and fiber diameter affect the characteristics of the final yarn and how to best make use of each breed’s unique strengths.
12-12:30 PM: Punch Needling Demo with Gina the Botina
Watch a live punch needle demo and discover how different needle sizes and heights create unique textural art. Learn the basics and get inspired to start your own project!
1-1:30PM: Needle Felting Demo with Bartlett Yarns
Is needle felting for you? A quick overview of this popular craft includes tools, supplies, and basic intro instructions on creating various wool felt projects. From simple shapes to complex wire armature creations, the sky is the limit with your creativity.
Maps will be available at the Info Desk to help you find vendor stalls. No advanced registration is required for educational demonstrations, but space is limited, so please arrive on time so you don't miss out!
