Jeremy Serna, a self-taught artist from South Texas, now resides in Brownwood. He owns Painting with Friends and began his artistic journey with pastels, eventually exploring airbrushing, oils, acrylics, and watercolors. Inspired by books like Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards, he pursued further development through classes with Michael Holter and currently studies with renowned watercolorist Alvaro Castagnet.
Serna's work is represented in various Texas cities, as well as Eureka Springs, AR, and Ventura, CA. He won the Overall Artist award at the 2020 Stars of Texas Paint Off Competition. On Saturday mornings, he teaches watercolor classes via Zoom and welcomes students to his studio, fostering a well-paced and informative learning environment.
With a passion for impressionistic watercolor, Serna believes plein air painting captures the essence of life and nature. He sketches daily to connect with his surroundings, stating, “I paint the verb, not the noun.”
