FREE Creative Workshop for Winter Light Parades at Marks Gate Community Hub

Between19th and 24th November, Creative Barking and Dagenham are hosting the international street-performance company Picto Facto from Toulouse, France. The company will lead a series of moving light parades in the borough. These special outdoor light events will be filled with music, dancing and huge inflatable puppets.

Ahead of the parades we would like to invite you to join us in making bright and colourful light boxes for the community. This is a creative making workshop suitable for all ages and taking place in community venues across the borough. You will make a colourful light box complete with fairy lights and a personalised message for someone else in the community. When you come to the parade you will get a message from someone else on a light box that you get to take home!

Please note: These events are designed specifically for residents of Barking and Dagenham to celebrate our local community. We kindly encourage those living in or connected to the area to sign up and join the festivities!

Monday 28th October - Barking Learning Centre, IG11 7NB - 10am, 12pm, 2:30pm

Tuesday 29th October - Rivergate Centre, IG11 0FJ - 10am, 12pm, 2:30pm

Wednesday 30th October - John Smith House, IG11 9LL - 2pm, 4pm

Thursday 31st October - Mark’s Gate Community Hub, RM6 5NJ - 10am, 12pm, 2.30pm

Friday 1st November - The Vibe Youth Centre, RM8 2UT - 11am

Friday 1st November - Kingsley Hall, RM9 5NB - 1.30pm, 3pm

Saturday 16th November - The Boathouse Studios, IG11 7BT - 10am, 12pm, 2.30pm

The parades themselves will take place between Tuesday 19th November and Sunday 24th November. All parades start at 6.30pm.
