Welcome to Free Community Laurel Ecstatic Dance !
What is Ecstatic Dance?
Ecstatic Dance is a global movement practice that bridges freeform dance, mindfulness, and community connection. It is not a dance class. There is no choreography, no steps to learn, and absolutely no wrong way to move. We gather to drop out of our analytical minds and drop deeply into our bodies.
Each event features a "Sonic Wave" of music—starting slow and meditative, building to a high-energy peak, and gently landing into a deeply restorative sound healing. Afterward, we gather to chat and connect.
Our Community Agreement:
To transform our library space into a sanctuary of absolute safety, freedom, and deep presence, we honor four simple guidelines at every gathering:
- 👣 We Dance Barefoot: To ground ourselves and connect with the floor (clean socks are also fine!).
- 🤫 We Dance in Silence: No talking on the dance floor. This allows the dance to become a deep internal meditation and a playground for non-verbal connection. [1]
- 🚫 We Dance Sober: This is a 100% drug, alcohol, and vape-free container. We get high on the music, the movement, and the community.
- 📱 We Dance Present: No phones, cameras, or recording devices are allowed in the movement space. Your privacy and freedom to express yourself are safe here.
Who is this for?
Absolutely everyone! Every age, body type, background, and fitness level is welcome. Because we are hosted at the local library and offered completely free of charge, our focus is on building an inclusive, accessible neighborhood vibe. Whether you are a seasoned yogi, an experienced dancer, or someone who hasn't danced since childhood, this space is for you.
Come as you are—wear clothes you can stretch and sweat in, bring a water bottle, and bring an open heart.

- Registration is required via Eventbrite so we can monitor room capacity.
Space is limited by the library's capacity rules ( up to 40 people) Please claim your free ticket in advance, and kindly cancel your reservation if your plans change so someone on the waitlist can take your spot!
